What is the Arm Lift procedure?
The loosening of the skin fat in the arms is a common and unsightly symptoms. This excess skin can cause aesthetic damage and functional (discomfort felt during movements, irritation ...)
Several sources are possible:
- Reduction of the elasticity of the skin
- Loss Muscle volume
- Excess skin after weight loss

In general, an arm dermolipectomy also called arm lift or brachioplasty is associated with a liposuction the area.

Before the Arm Lift
The motivations and requests of the patient will be analysed during the preoperative consultation with the surgeon.
No medication containing aspirin should be taken within 10 days before surgery.
Stopping smoking is obligatory before surgery.

Anaesthesia for Arm Lift
Usually the procedure is done with under local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia.

How long does Arm Lift take?
Depending on the surgeon, the extent of improvement, and the possible need for further actions, the procedure can last from 1h30 to 2 hours.

How visible will Arm Lift scars be?
The arm lift can be performed using two techniques. The full upper arm lift that involves an incision in the armpit and along the underside of the arm to the elbow or the mini arm lift, in that case the incision is made in the arm pit.

The Upper Arm Lift
It can remove excess skin that droops from the upper arm. In most cases, this skin is a result of rapid weight loss or loss of skin elasticity due to the natural aging process.
To perform the upper arm lift, the surgeon will create an incision along your arm. The location and length of the incision will vary depending on the amount of skin you wish to have removed, as well as the location of the excess skin flap. In a standard arm lift procedure, the incision will extend from your armpit to your elbow.

Mini Arm Lift
The mini arm lift is the best option if you only need a minor revision to the skin on your upper arms. To perform the mini arm lift the surgeon will remove excess skin and fat to create a more pleasing shape. In a mini arm lift, however, the incision is much smaller. In most cases, the surgeon will place the incision in your armpit, where the scar will be barely visible.
The mini arm lift procedure is usually used for patients who have lost a moderate amount of weight due to diet and exercise, or for those who have developed some excess skin through aging. Most bariatric surgery patients will require traditional brachioplasty, as a mini arm lift cannot provide the drastic revision necessary after extreme weight loss.
