What is the Cheek Implant procedure?
Cheek implant procedure, also called Cheekbone augmentation or cheek enhancement is designed to enhance the appearance of the cheekbones and midface. The procedure will revolumize sunken or flat facial areas and provide a needed lift, restoring an elegant and youthful-looking appearance by increasing volume in the targeted area, resulting in a younger and more balanced facial appearance.
Cheekbone implant is the best option for permanent-lasting results. The implants are placed over the cheekbones to add shape and definition for natural-looking results.
For patients who prefer a completely non-invasive method of cheekbone augmentation, fat transfer, is a good option to increase the cheekbone volume.
The technique involves collecting your body’s natural fat (through liposuction procedure). The fat is then injected in order to revolumize the cheekbones with natural fat. About 70% of the fat will survive after a fat injection.
There is no specific age for this procedure.
Before the Cheekbone Implant
The motivations and requests of the patient will be analysed during the preoperative consultation with the surgeon.
No medication containing aspirin should be taken within 10 days before surgery.
Stopping smoking is obligatory before surgery.
Anaesthesia for Cheekbone Implant
Usually the procedure is done with a local anesthetic depth by tranquilizers administered intravenously.
How long does Cheek Implant surgery take?
The procedure takes generally 1h30 to perform.
How visible will Cheek Implant scars be?
Incisions are placed in the mouth. When performed with other procedures, alternate incisions may be recommended including placement through an incision inside the lower eyelid.
What is the recovery time healing process for a Cheek implant surgery ?
There will always be a short period of minimal swelling and sometimes bruising after surgery.
Immediately after surgery, the face will be fitted with bandages, taped, or otherwise secured in order to speed the recovery process and to reduce swelling.
Keeping the head elevated during the initial recovery phase is also important.
Pain associated with cheek implant surgery is minimal and can be treated effectively with oral medication.
After the sugery a liquid diet may be required for 3 to 5 days.
You must carefully follow all instructions provided by your surgeon in order to achieve the best results possible.
How long after a Cheek Implant do you start seeing results?
Three weeks are required to have a good overview of the result, knowing that the final appearance will be obtained 3 to 6 months after the surgery.
